:: 12.13.11: Central Market Shoreline

I am happy to announce Cadeaux Chocolates are now available at Central Market Shoreline.   Central Market is one of my favorite places to go to pick up some very special ingredients for all the Asian cooking I like to do.  I also like Italian and French cuisine and Central Market keeps me well supplied for those, too!

InStyle Magazine puts Cadeaux Chocolates into a cute gift idea for the Holidays (see this December Issue, p. 442).

:: 11.15.11: Bittersweet with Praline

Just finished dipping some Bittersweet with Praline truffles.  The praline is prepared ahead of time by caramelizing hazelnuts, then grinding them to small bits.  I add this to my bittersweet ganache, set it in molds, then dip and top with caramelized cocoa nibs.

See what writer Jess Thomson says about Edible Seattle's caramel taste test in this November/December issue.  Cadeaux Chocolates' Honey Caramel (made with Ballard Bee Company Honey) and Fleur de Sel Caramel  were listed as a couple of their favorites.

:: 10.31.11: Ginkgos

Some pretty ginkgo leaves blew into my foyer this morning - so nice to receive some inspiration in an unexpected way.

:: 07.14.11: Rustic Peach Galette

With all the wonderful fruit in season, I have been playing with different pastry recipes.  This afternoon, while admiring a bowl of peaches, I had the inspiration to make one of my summer favorites, a Rustic Galette.  I happen to like the recipe from Baking at Home with The Culinary Institute of America.  You can make the dough in just minutes and as it rests in the refrigerator, prepare the peaches.   The photo to the left is taken just a moment ago.  Although the Galette is piping hot, I do not think I can wait to cut myself a slice and eat it with a dollop of rich vanilla ice cream.

:: 07.08.11: Mmmm...Ice Cream

There is nothing like summer and pulling out my copy of "The Perfect Scoop," by David Lebovitz.  Today I made his Chocolate Ice Cream and it is everything he promised - it is truly irresistible.  I also made a variation of his Vanilla Ice Cream, mixing in broken pieces of my Almond Croquant confection.  It seems like the possibilities are endless...

:: 06.27.11: Barbara-Jo's Books to Cooks

While in Vancouver, BC this weekend visiting dear friends and eating amazing meals, I discovered an incredible book store, Barbara Jo's Books to Cooks.  This store is a true epicurean's adventure.  Located in Vancouver's Armoury Distrist, Books to Cooks carries a beautiful, and vast, collection of cookbooks and wine books.  I completely lost track of time, pouring through book upon book, becoming quite inspired (and hungry!).  Barabara Jo's Books to Cooks invites many renowned chefs to demonstrate recipes throughout the year.  This place is a definite find and I look forward to returning as often as possible.

:: 04.06.11: Sunset Hill Green Market

I happened to have my camera with me the other day when I went to the Sunset Hill Green Market to drop off some Honey Caramels and took this photo.  When I walked into the store, the brilliant colors and the fresh aromas of the fruits, vegetables, and breads made me believe it was Spring here in Seattle (and yes, we really had a hail storm today!).
